Happy Eight Months!

My Titus Andrew,

Has another month already come and gone? I know I say this every month, and will probably continue, but I wish I could stop time and savor each precious moment with you. You are growing and changing so quickly. I want to keep a snapshot of each moment, stage, personality and idiosyncrasy in my mind.

If there was ever a snapshot moment when I knew that our lives had changed completely, it was the other day when I observed you and your daddy playing. I watched Daddy playing, laughing, and explaining basketball to you and there was a look of pride and excitement on his face that I have never seen before. I watched you jabbering and laughing and enjoying this special one-on-one daddy time and my heart swelled with love. Then you both laid down on the floor, you laying on his chest, with one arm casually draped across him, and I just thought, wow, our lives are forever changed!

I know this sounds silly. There have been so many more obvious clues than that that our lives have been slightly altered. Not sleeping for a consecutive 8-10 hours at a stretch could have been an indicator. The frequent visits to your changing table and the smell of dirty diapers. The sound of your cry etched in my memory so deep, that sometimes I hear phantom cries. All these things may have shouted at me that I have a finally baby, but frankly, I think I was a little too sleep-deprived for it all to sink in.

In that seemingly routine moment in our living room, though, it was as if the fog around me lifted and I woke from a dream. Before then, it was a though I was watching some other exhausted, confused couple fumble their way through caring for you. You, Titus have changed our lives forever. Your daddy has so much more to teach you and share with you. I can't wait to watch God continue to knit your hearts together and catch the snapshots of our family unfold.

Some fun facts about you:
  • You weigh approximately 15 pounds.
  • You wear 3-6 month clothes and size 2 shoes.
  • Your favorite songs are Jesus Love Me, Happy All the Time, and our special Good Morning song
  • You are still working hard to trying to figure out how to crawl, but getting better each week.
  • You pulled yourself up for the first time this month. And, you balanced yourself while holding onto your Sports Center. What a big boy!
  • You now have 4 teeth-two top and two bottom.
  • Your new favorite toys are your Sports Center and your Dino
  • Your favorite book is Barn Yard Dance by Sandra Boynton
  • You love being outside playing in the leaves, sitting in your stroller on walks, and watching Mama blow bubbles for you.
  • You are babbling more. You say Dada-but we aren't sure that you "know" what you are saying. Time will tell...

I love you little mister man and I hope you will always know how much I love you. Never forget we are family and we love you more than life.

  1. Hi, Alicia! My name is Ellen, and I know of you, through Kate, through Alice Evans (my sister in law.) My husband and I have decided to pursue adoption (maybe Taiwan?) and I would love to get in contact with you about your experience. (I couldn't find a link to your email on your blog.) Thanks!!
