Begin Again

Let's pretend for a minute that I actually write on this little blog of mine.

You can bet I'd write about Titus' first few weeks of school and all of his adorable three and four-year-old quirks and sweetness. I'd share oodles of projects we've been working on over the last few months. You know photos would be posted from our recent trips and adventures. I'd fill you in on how I'm feeling, what I'm loving, who I'm admiring, where I've been and hope to be. I definitely would follow through and not drop the ball on things I had previously promised to chat about.

I have a list of reasons why it's been crickety quiet around here, but they aren't important or all that interesting.

What matters is that when I think of this little corner of the internets, I miss it. So much. I don't scrapbook or journal so this is my space to share and record all the things I want to remember and keep alive. This is where I get my chat on. This spot is where family and friends can come to get glimpses into our days and hear my rambling thoughts. I want for Titus to be able to come here when he's older to read and laugh and know me and my heart more. To see himself, his childhood, his journey through the eyes of his mama.

My fingers have been itching to write and my head is plump full of things to share. So I'm going to write. It's time to set all the thoughts and memories and rambles here where they belong. I may even get all crazy and post things from way back. And I mean, way back. Because it's my blog and I'll talk about year-old-things if I want to! I have a ton of pictures and stories to back log and I can't wait.  Our little Mister Man is growing fast and I don't want to miss a minute! I set the rules here and I'm going to follow them. Or chuck 'em across the backyard.

I am inspired to come to this place a whole lot more and share on a regular basis. Starting today.

I'm flat out giddy about a new start.

I hope you'll come alongside me as I dive back in.

It's time to begin again.

Dear February

Dear February,

It seems like only yesterday January arrived with it's dawn of a new year and then you graced us with your presence. Each year as the busyness of the Christmas season passes I long to savor the cozy cold winter months.  I wish for lots of snowflakes, good books to curl up with under piles of blankets, pots of wholesome soup bubbling on the stove and sweet quiet moments with my little family.  You didn't disappoint, February, and I thank you!  We savored your sparkly Valentine's Day treats and bright red hearts praying our way through our Love Jar reflecting on the many special people in our lives.  We are blessed!  Your simple moments: Super Bowl fun, Downtown KC adventures, snowmen, days filled with books, board games and puzzles galore, a handful of sunshiny days filled with outdoor play, first words sounded out and read and lots of birthday fun.  These are all sweet memories, I'll tuck away for keeps.  You probably know by now that you hold a special place in my heart. I will always be grateful for my little boy that arrived this month three years ago.  He makes your visit full of fun and ends your time with us perfectly.  I'm hearing the silence of the end of your visit on Friday morning and I'm pondering the goodness of God and the grace that covered us with each day.  Thanks for being oh so wonderful!

Til me meet again,
Alicia

Snow, Snow, Snow, Snow

February is ending with a bang.  In less than a week's time, our area has been hit with two major snow storms.  Therefore, we've dug our driveway and decks out multiple times, indulged in yummy warm soups, built snowmen,  enjoyed the time with Daddy working from home for multiple days, and relished the long winter days and nights together.

After we dug ourselves out I ran into the house to warm up for a bit and loved watching the Daddy/Son moments unfold from my windows.  Memories in the making!

Husband Love-Kevin built a mini snowman just for me in our tree.

Happy Snow Day

Since it snowed and snowed yesterday we had promised Titus a day of snow fun today. He held us to our promise and Mama was more than happy to oblige.  All in all, we had 12 inches of pure, delightful, beautiful, marshmallow snow.   Most of the areas in our yard were up to Titus' waist and my knees but we found a few areas that were only up to Titus knees and he could sort of walk in it.  He played outside on Friday for 2.5 hours while Daddy and I experienced home ownership at it's fullest by digging out our driveway and decks.  On Saturday we played outside for over hour.  Our little boy is loving this winter snow.  Since more snow is on the way, I'm sure we'll have more snow fun very soon!

Dear January

Dear January,

You had me at day one. With the calendar flip, you wooed me with your fresh starts and best is yet to be promises. How did you know that blank slates make my heart sing?  That being said, you wore me out!!!!  My legs and arms and feet are sore because of packing, unpacking,  cleaning, painting and then the flu.  You filled us all up with happy moments.  The purchase of our first home.  Choosing paint colors.  Hot chocolate dates with my little Mister Man. Discovering and gaining wisdom through our year long study at church of the book of Proverbs.  Silly made up games.  The joy of watching Titus find his first penny.  Snow.  Exciting adoption news.  You surely kept us on our toes with your hodge-podge  of crazy new adventures.  2013 is going to be an overflowing, ever changing and an adventurous year.  There were no perfect days, January, but His fingerprints were on each and every one. The big things and the little details and everything in between, He was there. I'm so thankful. Truly.

Til we meet again,
Alicia

Christmas 2012

Christmas Eve morning was exciting and filled with sweet memories.  After we ate the Wolfe traditional monkey bread breakfast  and read from Luke 2, we started opening gifts.  Titus has known all along the gifts underneath our tree were for various family members to celebrate the importance of who they are in our lives and to show our love to them.  But, he had no idea that there were a few of packages under the tree for him.  He asked more than once, "For me?"  I love his sweet naivety and gratefulness!
We then headed to Nevada to celebrate Christmas Eve/Day with my family.  It was a beautiful time celebrating our relationships with one another and most importantly celebrating Jesus and the hope we have in Him.  Here are some random snapshots of our time together.

 Christmas is HARD work!

We then came home and a couple of days later opened a few presents with Papa Rex and Baba.
We received many wonderful gifts from grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and cousins. We are so grateful to everyone for their generosity, kindness and love.
